Continuing the Legacy of John F. Smith
John Smith was a mentor and grandfather figure to many Charlotte figure skaters. In the early 1980's Smith acquired a love and special interest for figure skating and the skaters of the Charlotte rink at Eastland Mall. He had suffered a heart attack and began walking the rink as part of his recovery.
Carolinas FSC is proud to host the John Smith Memorial Competition in honor of our "biggest fan."
